Artemis II

The four astronauts safely splashed down in the Pacific today, after their historic moon flyby. Wordsmiths and poets have already covered this event better than I ever could, but I wanted to remark how beautiful and inspiring this mission was. In days often marked by images and news to the contrary, this mission shows folks at their best: courageous, curious, collaborative, creative, competent, kind, and peaceful.

Humankind hadn’t been to the moon in my lifetime. I underestimated how awestruck and grateful I would be to witness it, how impactful a photo of earth, in its beauty and fragility, would be.
