Lucky Harvest II

In my vegetable-illustration-drunken haze, I didn’t realize how deep this seed catalog repository goes.

In case you didn’t see it, I stumbled upon this Internet Archive Collection yesterday. It’s officially called the Henry G. Gilbert Nursery and Seed Catalog Collection. Turns out it was uploaded by the National Agriculture Library and there are 92,701 items online! This link will take you to the National Agricultural Library’s own highlights.

I’ve been wildly taking screenshots as I look with no overarching curatorial concept besides “Ooh ooh!”

I’ve uploaded that smattering below. It goes without saying there are beautiful flowers, but also interesting 40s-50s scripts and type lockups. I included Stark Tree’s gridded pages because I like their usage of Futura and two different reds. Beyond that, it’s worth taking a gander through the archive yourself!

This is a great page on the NAL’s website, and not a bad place to start
